Un appello per un’Orsa senza nome: la conosciamo solo per la sigla con cui viene identificata: Jj4.
In queste settimane i media hanno parlato molto di questa brutta storia che potrebbe avere un epilogo inconcepibile, perché profondamente ingiusto.
Qui metto a disposizione cinque cose.

– Liberazione della mamma orsa JJ4 che ha due cuccioli ancora da seguire e dei quali non si sa nulla!
– Avvio di politiche di gestione degli orsi del Trentino con coinvolgimento di esperti veri per strutturare un progetto sostenibile che crei le condizioni di convivenza consapevole uomini-orsi
– Stop alle procedure VIOLENTE che riguardano propositi di abbattimento e cattura generalizzata degli orsi del Trentino

In view of what has recently happened in Trentino, the European Court of Auditors is asked to supervise the use of funds from the LIFE URSUS project.
1. the release of bear Jj4 and news of the condition of her cubs
2. the resignation of the president of the Province of Trento Maurizio Fugatti
3. the opening of investigations to understand how European funds have been used
3. the opening of investigations to ascertain the responsibility of the institutions that did not supervise the situation (the bear had the radio collar off for months) and did not set up paths for the safety of humans and animals
4. the establishment (albeit late) with those funds of safe routes for humans and animals, for example the adoption of measures such as those suggested by the LAV (anti-bear bins, etc.) in the following article:
“We want bears to be able to live free, without running the risk of being imprisoned or killed for behaving like bears.
To achieve this goal we ask that the Province of Trento, together with the Ministry for Ecological Transition, establish a new “pact for coexistence” with bears.
A project that includes a series of concrete actions aimed at promoting peaceful coexistence between bears and humans.
First of all, we ask that the Province of Trento replace all waste bins with “anti-bear models”. The presence of food is in fact considered one of the main factors that pushes bears to become “confidants”: that is, to abandon their natural distrust of humans, identified instead as an easily available source of food.
We at LAV offer a series of activities in the Trentino area to promote coexistence between citizens and bears.
AN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE TO PROMOTE LIVING WITH BEARS
“Living with bears in Trentino”, this is the name of the international scientific conference that we organized with the participation of some Canadian researchers, who will talk about their experiences to promote coexistence between men and bears.”
